Springville Center for the Arts is bringing the collaboration of Joe Newberry and April Verch to the Mongerson stage on Dec. 14 at 7:30 p.m. as part of a Holiday Cheer Tour.
Newberry is a Missouri native and North Carolina transplant. A songwriter who also plays banjo, guitar and fiddle, he has paired with old-time music legends Bill Hicks, Mike Craver and Jim Watson.

He was recently a featured singer on the Transatlantic Sessions tour of the United Kingdom with fiddler Aly Bain and Dobro master Jerry Douglas, along with an all-star band and fellow singers Rhiannon Giddens, the Milk Carton Kids, Carla Dillon, and Karen Matheson.
Fiddler, singer and stepdancer Verch is returning to Springville after performing with her band in March. With countless awards, ten albums and 16 years of touring under her belt, Verch has moved from upstart prodigy to a mature and reflective songwriter, interpreter and storyteller.

She has performed around the world, including festival, theater and performing arts center appearances in Canada, China, Australia, United Kingdom, Belgium, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Norway, Germany, Austria, France, Czech Republic and the United Arab Emirates.

Verch was one of six fiddlers who represented the Canadian fiddle tradition to the world at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver, as part of a segment called “Fiddle Nation.”
Tickets are available by calling 592-9038 or online at SpringvilleArts.org.
