The SGI football team took an early 7-0 lead, but couldn’t keep up with visiting Depew on Thursday, Oct. 4.
The Wildcats beat the Griffins, 33-14, in Western New York Class B-2 division play.
Bryson Black scored a 7-yard run in the first quarter for the Griffins (0-6). Jackson Richert caught a 22-yard pass from Nick Emmick in the fourth quarter, which cut Depew’s lead to 19.
Joe Pagano had three rushing touchdowns and 127 yards for Depew (1-5).
The Griffins close out the regular season Friday playing host to Pioneer (6-0) in a non-league matchup. The Panthers enter as Western New York’s top-ranked small school (Class B and smaller) in the Buffalo News poll and also the No. 1 large school (Class C and larger) in the Olean Times Herald’s Big 30 poll.
