RJR Engineering, P.C., is proud to now be known as Encorus Group.

The firm saw its beginnings as Robert J. Runge II Consulting Engineers in 1996, offering civil engineering services. In 2001, the firm was incorporated as RJR Engineering, P.C. Joseph M. Lowry III, PE, took the helm from Mr. Runge in 2011. Mr. Lowry was hired by Mr. Runge as a high school intern, and has been with the firm ever since.

Over the next several years, the firm grew by leaps and bounds. In 2016, the civil materials testing and inspection and mechanical integrity asset management groups were added to the firm’s capabilities. In August 2017, the firm’s name was changed to Encorus Group in order to better reflect the integration and fluid function of the firm’s three divisions. Encorus’s multi-disciplinary staff now includes over 40 full-time employees operating out of offices in Springville and Buffalo. Additionally, Encorus is certified both federally and through New York State as a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB). The firm is proud to have been awarded the Buffalo Business First Fast Track Award, which recognizes the fastest growing companies in Western New York.

Encorus’s design group includes a full-time staff of nine multi-state licensed professional engineers, as well as junior engineers, drafters, and administrative personnel. These personnel cover all major engineering disciplines including civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, environmental, and fire protection, and allows Encorus the breadth of experience to self-perform many projects which typically require either a larger firm, or the use of onerous sub-consultant relationships.

Encorus works with clients in a variety of industries, including construction companies; local, county, state, and federal government agencies, manufacturers, colleges and universities, architects, and industrial clients. The firm’s project experience spans a broad variety, such as septic system design, concrete and asphalt testing for construction, tank and vessel inspection, structural design and evaluation, and engineering design in support of nuclear decontamination and decommissioning efforts.

Encorus is excited to begin this new chapter in the firm’s history, and looks forward to finding better solutions to the toughest problems for new and existing clients alike.
