The Springville Griffins indoor track team finished their season this past weekend on March 4, with Corrin Sacilowski competing in the 1500 meter racewalk at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex in Staten Island, NY in the state-level competition.
Sacilowski, a junior, earned the trip by taking 12 seconds off of her own school record time in this event at the sectional competition at Houghton college a week earlier.
Despite suffering a sprained ankle in warmups, Sacilowski was able to run her second fastest time of her career with a 7:38 and finish 14th in the state. While this did fall short of her goal of qualifying for nationals, her attention quickly turned to her outdoor and indoor track goals for the following seasons.
Sacilowski is returning to indoor track next year as the number one seeded athlete in her event and is determined to not only qualify for states and nationals next year, but also break the Section VI record as well. Congratulations on a great season!
