Shannon O’Hara took first place in the diving competition, leading the Springville girls swimming and diving team in the Section 6 Class C championships last week.
The Class C championships ran from Wednesday through Friday, with the diving championships on Thursday in Olean and swim finals on Friday at Erie Community College. O’Hara, a senior, placed first out of 11 divers with a total of 377.39, winning by more than 10 points.
As a team, Springville finished fifth out of 14 teams in Class C with 173 points, behind only Frewsburg, Southwestern, Eden and Panama.
Also for SGI, Hannah Bergner had a pair of fourth-place finishes in the 50-yard freestyle (:26.66) and the 100 free (:58.95).
Emily Schlemmer took seventh in the 500 free (6:07.84) and eighth in the 200 free (2:13.99). Julia Uhteg was 11th in the 200 free (2:21.74) and 12th in the 500 free (6:31.65), while Gabrielle Cerasani was 11th in the 100 butterfly (1:13.48) and 14th in the 200 IM (2:43.19).
SGI’s 200 freestyle relay of Bergner, O’Hara, Cerasani and Schlemmer finished third at 1:50.85. The 200 medley relay of Cerasani, Hannah Blake, Bergner and Schlemmer was fourth (2:10.92). Also forSGI, the 400 freestyle relay (Uhteg, Lilia Dinse, Danika Westbrook, Hannah Blake) took ninth in 4:37.02.
