It’s that time of year, again! When celebration, dancing, sports, and never-ending excitement come together in something we know as Homecoming.
This year, Springville’s Homecoming week will start on Monday, Sept. 11 and continue through Saturday, Sept. 16.
Throughout the week, there will be multiple sporting events, including volleyball, soccer, and a powderpuff football game on Thursday. And perhaps the most anticipated event is the football game on Friday.
On Friday, there will be a parade, during which each class will present their theme-decorated float. The pep rally is also scheduled for Friday.
Jarret Wolf, the junior class President, explained why we celebrate Homecoming every year. “It’s all about getting a good start to the school year, and really getting all the kids involved,” Wolf said. “It really gives pride to your school…like school spirit.”
The concluding Homecoming event will be the semi-formal dance on Saturday, Sept. 16, which will be held in the high school gymnasium.
The dance will go from 7 to 10 p.m., and food and refreshments will be provided.
Tickets are $10 at the door; however, students are encouraged to buy presale tickets (during school in the days leading up to the dance) for a reduced $8 price.
Students should see Jarrett Wolf, Amy Stabell, Meadow Whitman, or Mike Sabota with any questions about the dance.
