Laugh the night away with standup comedian, actor and musician Rodney Carrington as he performs at the Seneca Allegany Events Center Saturday, March 9 at 7 p.m.
Known for his trademark Texas drawl and black cowboy hat, Carrington’s stand up routine combines comedy with his love of music. Don’t miss his hilarious show for audiences 18 years and older.
Carrington is a multi-talented comedian, actor, singer and writer who has recorded eight major record label comedy albums, collectively selling more than three million copies. He has released three new albums on his own record label, Laughter’s Good Records.
His album of new songs and material, “Laughter’s Good,” debuted at No. 1 on the Overall Comedy Charts. He returned to the studio to record “The Hits,” which also reached No. 1 on the comedy charts.
The Texas-born comedian and musician is famous not only for his albums, “Hangin’ with Rodney,” “Morning Wood,” “Nut Sack,” “King of the Mountains” and “Laughter’s Good,” but also for his ABC sitcom, “Rodney,” and for appearing in the feature film, “Beer for My Horses,” with Toby Keith and Willie Nelson.
He also penned a chart-topping Christmas single, “Camouflage and Christmas Lights,” a tribute to the U.S. military. On his most recently released album, “Here Comes the Truth,” Carrington pokes fun at life in his 40s, modern romance and relationships, gaining weight and much more.
He released his first hardcover book, “Rodney Carrington, Coming Clean,” published by Hatchette Books.
Appearing on countless other TV shows, including the ACA (American Country Awards), he hosted the American Country New Year’s Eve Live show on FOX. His appearance on the Trace Adkins’ music video, “I Got My Game On,” won him “Supporting Character of the Year” from the CMT Music Video Awards.
According to Pollstar, Carrington has been one of the Top 10 highest grossing touring comedians for the last 10 years and among the Top 5 the last several years.
He regularly performs to sold-out crowds across the United States, Canada and even Australia and is on track to be in the Top 5 again this year.
Before his fame, Carrington performed comedy at local venues and was a regular on the radio show, “The Bob and Tom Show.” In 1998, Carrington broke through with his major label comedy CD debut, “Hangin’ With Rodney.”
Nine more Top 10 comedy albums came along in the next few years. All continue to receive radio airplay and regularly place on the national comedy charts.
TV Guide listed some little known tidbits about Carrington. He studied theater while attending Kilgore College, in Texas, and actually slept in the back of a truck and sold t-shirts out of a suitcase to make ends meet while starting out as a comedian.
In 2010, he formed the Tulsa-based Rodney Carrington Foundation, a nonprofit organization that donates to local and national charities. He has three sons, George, Sam, and Zac with his ex-wife Terri Carrington.
