Springville’s Sonya Krezmien came home with a fourth-place patch at the Section 6 cross country state qualifier, finishing fourth of 116 girls running in Class C on Friday.

The Springville-Griffith Institute cross country teams both competed in sectionals, with the boys placing sixth of 16 teams and the girls were eighth of 18 teams.

Krezmien finished the five-kilometer race in 20:19.39 while teammate Hannah Goetz was ninth at 21:09.32. Also for Springville, Jaime Dickinson was 56th at 23:21.56 and Evelyn Smith took 58th (23:30.93).

For the SGI boys, Brett Russell finished seventh out of 123 Class C runners at 17:23.70. Jared Hecht, meanwhile, took 15th at 18:01.54. Zackary Peterman finished 48th, clocking in at 19:16.81 and Nathan Meyers was 51st at 19:25.19.
