The first-ever Community Day on Friday, June 1 saw Colden Elementary students participating in a poverty simulation at the Bread of Life Outreach Center.

With the help of a contingent of Bread of Life volunteers playing the roles of utility companies, banks and stores, students got to simulate the experience of what it is like to earn a salary, pay bills and buy groceries. Throughout the event, students enhanced their career awareness, practiced their social skills and developed their financial literacy.

Along the way, students got to learn why the Bread of Life is such a valuable resource to many in our community and how they, too, can play a role in making a difference in the lives of others.
