Bertrand Chaffee Hospital recently recognized Linda Smith, LPN, the hospital’s longest-serving full-time employee, for her 50 years of service.

Bertrand Chaffee Hospital recently honored its longest-serving full-time employee, Linda Smith, LPN, who celebrated her 50th anniversary with the hospital. BCH held a surprise celebration to celebrate Smith’s milestone.

Smith started her career in 1969 as an LPN in the Medical/Surgical Unit after graduating from the Edna G. Dyatt School of Practical Nursing at Millard Fillmore Hospital.

She presently works in the Acute Care Unit and has spent most of her career working in the Medical/Surgical Unit, but also worked many years in the Obstetrics Unit, as well as the Coronary Care Unit and Emergency Room.

“I have been fortunate to be surrounded by nurturing people who have become lifelong friends,” said Smith. “The field of nursing and healthcare have greatly changed over my 50 years at BCH, but the feeling of helping someone has always remained a constant.”

“Linda is a great representation of who we are and our mission at Bertrand Chaffee,” said Jennifer Siragusa, Director of Patient Care Services. “She has a quiet, kind spirit and easily develops a rapport with her patients. We are grateful and proud to celebrate Linda’s 50-year anniversary of being a part of the BCH family.”
