The modified girls lacrosse team beat Lakeshore last Thursday 11-4. The team did a great job working together on both defense and offense this week. The team was led in goals by Melanie Barry, who scored three goals. Kiley Nolan, Shay Ellis and Brooke Kazmierozak each added two goals, with Rachel Stressinger and Mabel Robinson adding one goal a piece. Goalie Kelsey Folts had an outstanding game protecting the goal. The girls next home game is Monday, May 8.

JV Softball, submitted by Coach Kim Pazzuti

Springville’s JV softball team has been at the mercy of this weather in western New York. With the cold temperatures in March, we practiced for weeks in the gym. The few breaks we had, we found ourselves practicing in the parking lots because the fields were just too wet. Currently, our record is two wins and six loses. We are carrying 14 players on the team, which is a large number. We have had tremendous pitching by Katie Wolf, an 8th grader. Two other 8th graders on the team are Sara Ehlers, our shortstop, and  Marin Lehr, who plays 2nd base and can catch anything in left field. Our 9th graders include Kristen Brown, Lila Dinse, Gabby Kestner (catcher), Emily Ehlers (3rd base), Samatha Yetter (2nd base), Rachel O’Neal, Bella Oakley (1st base), and A. Parisien. Our 10th graders include Amy Stabell, which when asked can play any position and currently starts in center, Oliva Fisher, starting right fielder, and Mary Digangi, a new player to the game. With all the ups and downs, we have formed a fantastic team bond helping each other get through the rough games and celebrating our wins. We are looking forward to adding more wins when we see the teams for a second time.
