The Springville-Griffith Institute varsity softball team won its third consecutive game on Tuesday at home, piling up 12 hits in a 23-4 victory over Holland.
Meadow Wittman drove in four runs on two hits to lead Griffins (5-4). Wittman drove in runs on a single in the first, a fielder’s choice in the fifth, a single in the sixth and a fielder’s choice in the sixth.
SGI broke the game open in the sixth inning, scoring nine runs. Autumn Woodriff, Wittman, Olivia Fisher, Bella Oakley, Katelyn Mesch and Lina Voegele all sent runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.
On the rubber, Kaitlyn Wolf went four innings, allowing no runs on two hits, striking out four and walking none.
Wittman, Meghan Rehrauer, Ella Wittman, Fisher, Lilia Dinse and Mesch each racked up multiple hits.
For Holland, April Taylor went 2-for-4.
Next up on the schedule for SGI, the Griffins are set to host Lackawanna on Wednesday, visit Holland on Thursday and JFK on Friday.
Springville 15, Alden 8
Tied at seven through four innings, Springville’s Lilia Dinse tripled on an 0-2 count, driving two runs to give Springville the lead for good on Monday at Alden.
Ella Wittman collected four hits, including two doubles, to lead the Griffins.
Kaitlyn Wolf pitched for Springville, allowing 14 hits and eight runs while striking out four and walking one.
Out of Springville’s 19 total hits, Wittman, Wolf, Olivia Fisher, Marin Lehr and Meghan Rehrauer each managed multiple hits.
Maddison Gadd went 4-for-4 to lead Alden in hits.
